2. INSTALLATION AND USE

Before installing Sygate Personal Firewall, it is recommended that you close all other applications that may be accessing your modem drivers or network.
For Windows 95 Users:

It is required that you have Microsoft DUN (Dial Up Networking)
1.3, Winsock 2.0, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or later)
installed on your computer. If you currently do not have this
installed, it is recommended that you download this software at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95.
IMPORTANT: For ISDN via Ethernet, DSL, cable modem, you need to verify that these devices can connect to your computer through Ethernet. DirecPC users, please see the Section 5, entitled "Known Issues".

5. KNOWN ISSUES

The following are known issues with this version of Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0. They will be addressed or fixed in later versions of this product:

* StarBand *

StarBand users should note that although Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0 supports StarBand connections, the StarBand technology has not yet been rigorously tested with Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0.

* DirecPC *

There is a timeout discrepancy between the DirecPC and the Sygate Personal Firewall services. Users who utilize DirecPC should do the following to insure smooth operation -
1. After installing Sygate Personal Firewall, open DirecPC.
2. When the Sygate Personal Firewall pop-up message asks if you wish to allow DirecPC access to your network, place a check in the "Remember my answer and don't ask me again for this application" check box and click "Yes".
3. Close DirecPC and open again.

* NTS 1.4 *

If you use NTS 1.4 to connect to your DSL connection, you must reboot your computer every time you stop the Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0 service.

* Windows NT *

Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0 will block DHCP services if installed on a Windows NT server.

* Windows 2000 *
****************
Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0 will block the imbedded telnet services on Windows 2000 systems.
Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0 will block terminal services on systems using a Windows 2000 server.
Windows 2000 servers running Norton Anti-Virus software should upgrade to service pack 1 before installing Sygate Personal Firewall 4.0.
